2012 Winter Blast!
Come out Saturday January 28th for a day of women's gymnastics competition and join the National Marrow Donor Program marrow registry!
On Saturday,Cabarrus County Gymnastics is hosting a women's gymnastics meet at the beautiful Hickory Ridge Middle school in Harrisburg, NC. If you have an interest in women's gymnastics either as a spectator, or possibly thinking it might be a sport for your daughter - this is a great opportunity to see a wide range of age and talent levels and get a good idea what it is all about with athletes from around the state.
The day will consist of 3 sessions. The first session starts at 9am and will include the "Bronze" level girls. These are your entry level competitors with girls as young as 6, many in their first year or even their first competitive meet ever! If you have a daughter in recreational gymnastics or would like to get her involved, this is where to start.
At 12:00, the Silver and Golds compete. These are your more seasoned gymnasts, generally in their 2nd to 4th year of competition. Things get a little more serious at this level and the skills a little bigger.
At 4:00 the Optional level girls will compete. These are the girls who have been in the gym for 20-30+ hours a week, 51 weeks a year for 5+ years. Many of these girls will go on to compete nationally and then in college after graduation.
This year we are proud to be teaming up with the folk's at Be The Match. This organization works tirelessly to find potential donor matches for potentially terminal patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other diseases who need a marrow transplant. Be The Match will be onsite at the meet from 11 - 4 raising awareness and, more importantly, asking people to join the registry. Joining the registry is a free and simple process which includes filling out a form, answering a few medical questions, and a simple cheek swab. It is quick, easy, and painless - and it may enable you to help save a life - a life that may not survive without your help.
So if you have time, come out and watch the hard work the girls have put into their sport and visit with Be The Match and our other sponsors. If you are not interested in gymnastics or just don't have the time - but would like to join the registry, please come do that! (You will not be charged admission to the meet if you only plan to talk with Be The Match)
